Charlie Bass
Charlie Bass received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Hawaii in 1972. After graduation, he accepted a position teaching computer science at UC Berkeley, and in 1975, he joined Zilog, a microprocessor company which developed the Z80; an architecture employed in literally billions of embedded applications. In 1979, he co-founded Ungermann-Bass, the first networking company to deliver computer independent local networks and the first to go public in 1983. From 1983 to 1997, Dr. Bass was the Consulting Professor of Electrical Engineering at Stanford University. In 1989, he formed Bass Associates, a venture capital company specializing in early stage investments, which he managed until 2001.
Kazunobu “Kevin” Sakai Kazunobu "Kevin" Sakai joined Itochu Corporation in 1986 after graduating from Waseda University. In 1990 he moved to Itochu Techno-Solutions Corporation (CTC) and in 1992 he took the first of his many positions in Itochu Corporation's IT Business Department. Sakai's other roles with Itochu include two years as a trainee in France, five years as COO at Itochu subsidiary CIE America in Los Angeles, and two years in Itochu headquarter's Corporate Planning & Administration and Human Resources Divisions. In April 2007, he joined Itochu Cable Systems and in April 2008, he assumed his current position as SVP and GM of Itochu International's IT & Aerospace Division in New York. He is also acting as President of Itochu Technology, Inc. (ITI). Kevin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French literature from Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan.
Shinichi Uemura
Shinichi Uemura is the Section Manager of the Information Technology Business Section of Itochu Corporation, one of the world's leading trading companies with approximately $100 billion of annual turnover. Itochu's Information Technology Business Department has distributed IT products from more than 100 U.S. high technology vendors to the Japanese market in the past decade. Shinichi helped many of these startups enter the market both strategically and financially. He was formerly the Chief Investment Officer of Itochu Technology Ventures, Inc., a subsidiary of Itochu and one of the most successful venture capital funds in Japan. He received a Bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Tokyo and an MBA from The Wharton School.
